Welbeck has extensive experience in establishing partnerships with landowners to promote their land for development. However, as one of the country's leading property development companies, Welbeck is always mindful of the need to consult with the community about their proposals and this is the purpose of this exhibition.
Details about the Cleevelands scheme are contained in the following boards but, in summary, the proposal would comprise up to 550 homes including affordable and retirement housing, employment units and local shops set within a high street, a new community hall and extensive areas of open space.
Cleevelands is being proposed as one of the potential locations to meet the housing requirements of Tewkesbury Borough for the period up to 2026. However, there is no certainty that Cleevelands will be developed if the overall housing requirements for the Borough and Bishop's Cleeve change or other sites are developed instead.
In proposing Cleevelands, Welbeck's consultant team has sought to address some important questions, including:
- Could the site be developed?
- Does the site flood?
- Is there access to the site?
- Would the setting of the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) be protected?
- Are there any archaeological remains?
- Would protected species or important habitats be affected by development?
- What would an appropriate mix of development be?
- Could Cleevelands be a sustainable form of development?
